One of the finest questions of our generation is the concept of 'would you rather'. choose between 2 good or bad situations, to the response of either "you what?!' or "yeah no fair play". These simple choices are key judges of character- especially when it comes to the question of 'poor but happy, or rich but sad'. whether they would choose to live in emotional or physical fortune tells you how much they value their peers. On the other hand, the questions could be slightly less significant as I paint them to be. Maybe I shouldn't form conclusions on people based on whether they'd eat a jar of bogeys or drink pee. And, for the record, I choose poor but happy. Dulls the pain.

Sharing (pain) is caring
Joining new classes, my main conversation points rely on cue cards such as "I'm cold" or "I'm hungry" or "I'm tired". It's humorous that our main topics involve complaining rather than rejoicing about the weather outside (albeit that is somewhat a difficult task, living in a dreary seaside town..), or the lesson we have next. Perhaps it's an English thing, sharing our own (somewhat) torments to unite with other's torments. It does seem to help though, seeing as I made one of my first friends with a façade of incompetence like a mildly confused damsel in distress. maybe whining is actually a positive trait. talk to the hand, parents of toddlers.

Do I look like I care? Because yes, I probably do look like I care.
I notice that people seem to like telling me things. Maybe it's my Paul McCartney puppy dog eyes. However I have been told on fairly frequent occasions that I'm a good listener- which is an excellent compliment to receive. Some people tell me about their families. I try to mould my face to make it look like I care; the truth is, I care more about what lesson is next than which uncle has gone to prison for credit card fraud. Although, it's quite an affirming feeling knowing that people trust me enough to tell me about their felon families.
