Sharing (pain) is caring

Joining new classes, my main conversation points rely on cue cards such as "I'm cold" or "I'm hungry" or "I'm tired". It's humorous that our main topics involve complaining rather than rejoicing about the weather outside (albeit that is somewhat a difficult task, living in a dreary seaside town..), or the lesson we have next. Perhaps it's an English thing, sharing our own (somewhat) torments to unite with other's torments. It does seem to help though, seeing as I made one of my first friends with a façade of incompetence like a mildly confused damsel in distress. maybe whining is actually a positive trait. talk to the hand, parents of toddlers.
